The app has a built-in guide: Settings → Help — with step-by-step topics and, on Apple Intelligence devices, an assistant you can ask directly. A few quick answers that fix most issues in seconds:
Sync not working? Make sure iCloud is signed in on each device (Settings → [your name] → iCloud) and that iCloud Drive is on. First-time sync after install can take up to a minute.
Will I lose my data if I delete the app? Not if you're signed in to iCloud — your inventory, recipes, and lists live in your private iCloud account, so deleting the app only clears this device. Reinstall on the same Apple ID and everything syncs back automatically. If iCloud is off (or you sign in with a different Apple ID), the data on the device is lost — so export a CSV first (Settings → Data) for a backup you can keep anywhere.
Camera won't scan? Grant camera permission in Settings → Freezer+, and use a physical iPhone (the iOS simulator doesn't support barcode scanning).
Meal Planner unavailable? AI suggestions are part of Premium. On an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, an M-series iPad, or an Apple Silicon Mac, they run on-device with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings; on other devices Premium members get them over a secure connection. Your Recipe Box and weekly plan work on every device.
What's free vs Premium? Free: one location, full inventory tracking, the Recipe Box, and the 7-day meal planner. Premium: AI meal suggestions, Plan My Week with AI, unlimited locations, expiration alerts, and iCloud sync.
Saving and planning recipes: star any AI suggestion to keep it, or tap + in the Recipe Box to add your own. Plan saved recipes onto the 7-day strip in the Plan segment; items expiring this week appear at the top under "Use these first."
Shopping list: the Shopping segment of the Meal Planner is a checklist you can fill by hand or with one tap — Generate from this week's plan adds the ingredients you don't already have, and Add items running low pulls in anything you're down to your last of. Check items off, then share the list by Messages, Mail, or any app. Free for everyone.
Quick shortcuts: long-press the app icon on your Home Screen (or right-click the Dock icon on Mac) to jump straight to scanning, adding an item, or this week's meal plan.
Home Screen & Lock Screen widget: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap +, search for Freezer+, and add the widget to see what's expiring at a glance. It updates as you add and use items, and it's free for everyone.
Siri & Shortcuts: say "Add an item in Freezer+" or "What's expiring in Freezer+" — no setup needed. The same actions appear in the Shortcuts app and Spotlight, and can be assigned to the Action button. Voice-added items get a name and quantity; add photos, expiration dates, or weights in the app.
Scanned items into the wrong location? Open the Locations tab, tap the location, then use the ⋯ menu: Move All Items To… fixes a whole batch in one tap, or Select Items to move just a few.
Finding items fast: search the Inventory tab by name, brand, or barcode, and tap the filter button (top corner) to sort by date added, soonest expiry, name, or quantity — or filter to a location, a category, or just what's expiring soon. All free.
Export your inventory: Settings → Data → Export inventory (CSV) shares a spreadsheet-ready file of everything you're tracking, by AirDrop, email, or Files. Free for everyone.
Mark as Cooked didn't subtract an item? It matches recipe ingredients to inventory by product name — if a name differs (e.g. "Chicken" vs "Chicken Breast" usually match, but a nickname won't), adjust the item's quantity by hand.
Subscription issue? Manage or cancel from Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, and use Restore Purchases in the app's Settings after reinstalling. For refunds, contact Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.
Still stuck? Send us a note — include your iOS version and a quick description of what happened. Screenshots help.
